I feel I know u a bit, hence want to share this tip about cutting back on carbs. I am in the same boat as u...it seems hard to reduce the carb intake in a typical Indian vegetarian diet where poli and bhaat are the main items. In addition to cutting down from 2 polis to 1, I now eat the rice "soup-style" with about 1 tbsp of rice in a bowl swimming in amti/varan/kadhi/sambar.
